Student House Finder Terms of Service

This Terms of Service document governs how you use Student House Finder ("SHF"), including Student House Finder Extra ("SHF Extra"). It should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy. Any reference to a "house" refers to any house, flat, apartment or other property listed on our site.

What We Provide

We provide you with a house finding service. We search the internet for houses and present them to you. We process information from the letting agent and/or landlord, along with publicly available information like bus routes to help you choose a house. However, this information may not be accurate and SHF cannot accept liability if it is incorrect. SHF does not provide advice of any kind, and should not be used in isolation. At no point does SHF intend to create an offer the sale, lease, tenancy or licence any house or other properties. We are not responsible for the content of the house descriptions, photos, videos and virtual tours shown on this site.

Your Responsibilities

You must use SHF only for personal use. Commercial use is prohibited additional written permission, which should be requested by emailing us. You must not extract information from our website for automated processing. You must verify all information displayed about any house or property with the letting agent and/or landlord.

SHF Extra

You may purchase SHF Extra for a fee, shown on the checkout page. This gives you additional features on our website. Each purchase of SHF Extra lasts for a fixed period of time. We may vary the features of SHF Extra at any time. Only a non-trivial reduction in features may result in a partial refund. We may increase or decrease the price we charge other future customers, but you will not be offered a refund or be required to pay more if we do so. We may terminate our offering of SHF Extra at any time, in return for a fair partial refund based the number of days SHF is unavailable for.

AI Assistant

We provide you with access to an AI assistant, to which you can ask questions about houses in York. This is experimental and uses emerging technology including a large language model (LLM), so you should take extra care to verify all information it provides. Its responses should not be taken as housing, legal, financial or any other kind of advice. Student House Finder is not responsible for the content generated by the AI assistant. You should not expect your conversations with our AI assistant to be private and we may publish them in an anonymised form at a later date. You must not enter any messages other than what would reasonably be expected during a house search. In particular, you must not enter any personal information. You must not attempt to cause the assistant to respond in an improper way.

Agreement

By using our website, logging in to an account, or purchasing SHF Extra, you are agreeing to these terms, which form a binding agreement under English law. These terms may change at any time.
